It’s the first time this event had been organised, and entry was limited to 25 teams, that had arrived from all over the UK. The venue was The Shire, London, a course notably designed by Seve Ballesteros. There were as many children involved in activities around the clubhouse as lessons were being held for kids on the practice ground during the event. The event was organised by HKC Management, and Helen from the business could be found in all areas of the venue during the day, never standing still. Sports Traiders and local charities were the benefactors of the day.
The competition was a best 2 from 4 Stableford team event, and play was very competitive which obviously was great with all players able to see where they were in the field via the ‘Live’ scoring handsets.
GolfScore LIVE was very happy to support this worthy cause, having been asked by Matt Southgate and Richard McEvoy, great supporters of our service.
The tournament was sold out and the clubhouse buzzed with anticipation from the moment we arrived. Banners adorned the course and garden furniture supplied by Whitestores were displayed around the putting green.
Tudor Park, part of the Marriott group of hotels, hosted the Headcorn Imbibers Golf Day, the venue was presented perfectly, and all the participants were ‘fed and watered’ well before they got their tuition on their LIVE scoring handsets!
The weather was set fair, and banter between teams was sharp as they made their way to the shotgun start. Early stops at the ‘Penalty Shot’ beverage tents affected early nerves, and it was obvious that a high winning score was on the cards, or handsets. With another stop at the ‘Jimmy Anderson Wine’ distributing tee, allowed the players to take on the pro, with 7 from the total field succeeding.
The first thought as the GolfScoreLIVE team arrived at Knole Park was trying to remember when we had last enjoyed venison! There were ‘Bambi’s’ everywhere, and with the mist rising it was utterly picturesque!
The competition was organised by Bespoke Golf Events, Benn Barham’s business and was a best 2 from 4 Stableford Pro-Am event, a 24 team field, raising money for the Demelza charity.
The GolfScore LIVE team supported the Day Group Golf Day at Sutton Green, Guildford on the 20th May.
